This week: Laura Tries out The Latest spa Treatment from Lush

-

First up, I think Lush’s spa treatments are seriously underrated. Sure, they’re a bit bonkers, and you have to like those strong Lush smells, but the therapists are really good, the treatments are unique and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another world during them. I once went in and emerged four hours later a whole new person, having experienced not only a massage and facial, but also tea, a palm reading and what felt like some sort of counselling session.

Tangled Hair is the natural beauty brand’s newest treatment. Inspired by Japanese spa rituals, it’s an upper body and scalp massage using firm pressure and stretching techniques, designed to refresh and energise you. Despite its name, your hair will look fine when you leave as there’s no oil used, just a little minty temple balm at the end, and it’s accompanied by a jolly soundtrack of Japanese flute music. (See what I mean about bonkers?)

The 25-minute massage began on my shoulders – my tension sweet spot – and arms, before pressure points on my scalp and ears were worked on. Finally, cold stones were used to knead my face.

The pressure’s definitely on the firm side (which I prefer), and this, combined with the reed music, means this isn’t a treatment during which you’re likely to nod off. Instead, I left feeling completely “reset”, rather than walking around in that typical post-massage brain fog. This, and the fact that your hair isn’t left looking like an oil slick afterwards, makes this a great treatment for lunchtimes or as an after-work pick-me-up.

A scalp massage is one of my favourite parts of any full body treatment, and I loved this extended version. I booked in at the end of a particularly stressful day, and it genuinely cleared my mind better than the glass of wine I had been craving beforehand could have done. (OK, so maybe both helped…)

The Tangled hair Spa Treatment COSTS £40 for 25 minutes and is available at eight lush Spa locations nationwide. buy vouchers and book appointments at lush.com
