Happy birthday to Draganfly’s BSA

-

Draganfly Motorcycles in Bungay, Suffolk, would like to wish its house BSA A65 a happy birthday, as it turned 50 years old in March. The bike was originally despatched to Canada but found its way back to the east of England and into Draganfly’s hands, where it’s now become boss Iain Gwynn’s daily ride.

But not only is it an ideal transport for Iain on dry days, the A65 has also proved to be a perfect testbed for the new BSA and Triumph parts that the Draganfly workshop has been developing recently. For example, the 680244 primary chain tensioner had several incarnations before it made it onto the Orange Peril (as the A65 is fondly known), as the rubber pad kept perishing under workshop tests. A durable enough sample was finally found to withstand normal use and the A65 proved it on the road over 500 miles.

The Draganfly workshop also made 37-3986 and 37-3987 front and rear brake arms, but extended them to be longer than standard to give better leverage on the brake shoes and to improve braking in general.

Made to last in stainless steel and tested by Draganfly (or Iain, to be precise!), 37-3986/37-3987 fits 1971-72 A65 BSA and 1971-72 T150, 1973 T150V S1 Triumphs, while 680244/70-8310 fits 1965-71 A65s.
