75th anniversary of the VMCC
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club, and to celebrate the North West area sections are combining together to promote a commemorative event.
The event will take place on Sunday, September 19, and the venue will be The Junction Pub, Rainford, Merseyside. This has been chosen due to it being the most central point to the area with the facilities required, and has already been used on numerous occasions by the North West Section of the VMCC. Behind the pub is a large marquee, which will host a display of bikes.
Although the event is still in the early planning stages, proposed attractions will include an exhibition of bikes that are 75 years old (and older), a show which will hopefully feature one from every year of the VMCC’s existence, and a display of more modern bikes, too. Rather than concentrating on purely British bikes, it is hoped that these displays will feature as many different manufacturers as possible.
Added to that, there will be organised ride outs around the local countryside with groups restricted to machines of similar performance. Overnight camping will be permitted in the field adjacent to the marquee at a nominal charge. Many sections are already planning to organise section rides to the event, which has all the makings of becoming a busy and exciting day. We will keep you updated with further information.
