Shining a light on a Lucas frame

Bill Thacker asks for help in identifying his race bike. I have the only Charlie Lucas race bike currently being ridden; it’s used in VMCC Historic and the occasional Classic club meetings, parading at present but may come back to racing. I also have a file of original photos of Charlie’s bikes and, after comparing them with Bill’s bike, we can confidently say it is a Lucas, having originally been built to take a Royal Enfield engine. The shape of the frame and mounting points are convincing: see the accompanying photo, and one of mine.
