Ogri: Original and Best

-

From 1972, through the next five decades, the lanternjawed, leather-jacketed Ogri with wings on his helmet has been loved by countless bikers. Artist Paul Sample created Ogri for Bike magazine and his cartoons, with their wealth of detail and pin sharp encapsulation of the biking lifestyle, have remained favourites ever since. We’re delighted to report that, despite being a very talented artist, Paul is just like the rest of us in that he sometimes forgets and loses things. And so it was that, in 2017, he happened upon a portfolio of Ogri artworks tucked away in his spare room and about which he had forgotten.

Now 40 of those works form a special exhibition – Ogri: Original and Best – at the BlackShed Gallery at Russet Farm, Redlands Lane, Robertsbridge, East Sussex TN32 5NG, where they will be on display until July 31. All of the artworks are for sale and, as someone who, in a previous job, used to have the joy of seeing the original artworks, I can say that if you liked Ogri in print, you will love the original drawings. The exhibition can be seen from Tuesday to Saturday and you can find out more details at theblackshedgallery.org.uk
