Dilution of the MoT test
I write in support of recent correspondence regarding motorcycle MoTs and their worth.
I believe that since testers were banned from test riding it has strongly diluted the worth of the test. As experienced riders will know, much can be learned from an MoT test ride.
My first ride on a newly purchased Norton Dominator was to a test station. It passed. (No road test). On the return journey, while hard braking downhill for a left turn, the front guard jammed in between the front downtubes and I finished up on the wrong side of the road. Apparently featherbed frames are known for it. Luckily nothing was approaching in the other direction, otherwise the result could have been very sticky. Perhaps that’s why they stopped MoT test rides!
