Tough little three-wheelers

-

Reading ‘Three Wheels on my Wagon’ in OBM432 prompted memories of incidents involving threewheelers. While riding along, I came upon an accident where a Bond was nose down in the road after being in collision with a car. The whole front wheel and engine unit had been knocked off and was about 10 feet away. I also remember a chap in our town who had a Bond and was frequently seen kicking it when it wouldn’t start, not that it ever worked! I was once overtaken by a car which caught the side of an oncoming lorry and then collided with a Reliant following the lorry, which seemed to explode in a shower of blue glass fibre as it tipped over on to its side and slid to a stop next to me. The lorry driver and I went over to it and a voice from inside shouted “I’m alright” and the driver climbed out of the opening where the door used to be. The engine was still running even though it was on its side!
