The 28th Exmoor Run is on!

-

After a two-year absence, the Taunton Classic Motorcycle Club’s Exmoor Run is back! The event, which returns on Sunday, August 14, has been a mainstay of the classic bike calendar here in the South West since 1992, attracting riders from across the country on classic machines.

Starting out from and finishing back at Sheppy’s Cider on the A38 south of Taunton, the guided ride takes you along 110 miles of scenic roads out into the wilds of Exmoor, stopping at Dulverton for lunch before returning in the afternoon, via a different route. There will be a coffee stop somewhere along the way in the morning, and refreshments such as bacon butties, tea and cake at Sheppy’s at the start and finish. The route will be marshalled by club members and volunteers (please get in touch if you would like to volunteer to marshal). A follow-up recovery van and trailer will also be in attendance, in case anyone should splutter to a halt in a mobile phone blackspot. A charity raffle and more refreshments will close the day with the beneficiaries this year the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance and Freewheelers Blood Bikes.

Awards across a variety of classes will be presented at the end, so if you have something special hidden away, perhaps the Exmoor Run is the excuse you need to pull the covers off!

This year’s event is only for pre-2000 bikes and is being run online, with pre-booked tickets only. Please note, there will be no on-the-day entries, so avoid disappointment and make sure you book ahead. Ticket numbers are limited, so first come, first served – past runs have sold out. If you would like to join the club, a special entry fee including membership is also available. For details and tickets, go to eventbrite. co.uk and search for ‘Exmoor Run’.
