Borders Classic Bike Show

-

Once again on Sunday, September 11, the peaceful quiet of Cleobury Mortimer in Shropshire will welcome the sound of ageing British singles and twins and a range of foreign bikes to the Borders Classic Bike Show at the town’s Lacon Childe School. It’s a friendly gathering of clubs, individual owners and jumblers coming together to enjoy excellent catering and fascinating sights and sounds.

The doors open at 10am with cooked breakfasts prepared in the school kitchen for early arrivals. There will be two halls of bikes and outside jumble pitches under cover, while at 2pm the noisiest bikes will fire up for the SWATS megaphone award; this stands for She Would Appreciate That Sound and is given in memory of exdeputy head Valerie Reynolds, who used to collect entry money and enjoy some of the not quite legal exhausts that made her smile. There will also be an array of trophies, with the largest given for Visitors’ Favourite which is voted for by the public.

Entry is just £5 and profits will be shared between the school’s Parent Teacher Association and the Midlands Air Ambulance. As well as a grand day out, the ride through Shropshire roads to and from the show really is the icing on the cake.

Information and entry forms are available at www. bordersbikeshow.com.
