Hairvest festival!
If you’ve recently spotted some particularly dapper gentlemen making their way along the south coast on motorcycles, then you made have made the fleeting acquaintance of the BarbersRide. More than 30 motorcycling barbers put down their scissors and razors and picked up their helmets to undertake a trip from Westonsuper-Mare to Broadstairs in August.
BarbersRide was established by a bunch of biking barbers and industry chaps who wanted to combine their love of biking and barbering with fundraising for charity. In August 2017 the first event kicked off with a ride from Dundee to London and was a roaring success, raising more than £10,000. Since then, every year has got bigger and better, and the rides have raised more than £86,000 for charity.
This year the ride was in aid of MakeA-Wish UK, which helps to make lifechanging wishes come true for children with critical illnesses, with the aim of raising £25,000. We will let you know in a future issue how much this year’s BarbersRide achieved, but we reckon it will be more than that! On their travels, the riders stopped in at the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum in the New Forest where they no doubt gave Mr Miller some valuable coiffeuring tips!
