Weise Redwood shirt
Even in the depths of winter, we occasionally get the odd balmy day that not only reminds us of summer, but also means that we don’t want to clamber into the heavyweight motorcycling gear we reserve for the colder months. (Admittedly, in the OBM Shed we just sew ourselves into another vest sometime around November.)
An ideal alternative is the Redwood check shirt by noted clothing manufacturer, Weise. Not only does it have the classic look of an outdoor shirt (award yourself extra points if you’re already humming Monty Python’s ‘The Lumberjack Song’), it’s also fitted with impact and abrasion resistance for protection if the worse should happen while you’re riding.
Beneath the super soft brush cotton are Level 2 CE-approved shoulder and elbow protectors which are fitted in pockets in the mesh lining, plus a Level 1 back protector. Sandwiched between the outer material and lining is an abrasionresistant Aramid Fibre liner and the whole shirt is A-rated under the latest EU safety standard. There are two patch pockets on the chest and a handy inside pocket designed for holding a smartphone. Moreover, the Redwood is a snazzy alternative to the traditional Belstaff or leather jacket.
After all, you have a cool bike, why shouldn’t you have a cool shirt to go with it? The Weise Redwood is available in classic Black/Red or Black/ White check, as well as a subtle Black, in sizes S-5XL, and retails at £139.99.
