Chifa chicharonnes
Twice-cooked South American pork belly from Señor Ceviche
Señor Ceviche is a Peruvian ‘casa’ in London’s Kingly Court – part of a burgeoning restaurant community, just off Carnaby Street. Like a number of the better known street-food outfits on the London circuit it attracted investors and last year graduated from pop-up to bricks and mortar status. From its open kitchen and cocktail bar, the cool young staff help ensure that Señor’s casa is your casa. The Latin playlist, fluorescent posters and distressed wood all nod to Lima, but there’s something unmistakably new-Soho about this buzzing bar-cum-restaurant. The menu, comprising small plates designed to share, includes, unsurprisingly, ceviche – usually four options, plus one tiradito (sliced and sauced, not cubed and marinated). But there is equal emphasis on Peruvian barbecue – most notably their pachamanca pork ribs and, for the more adventurous, grilled beef hearts with sweet potato mayo. Snacks from £4.50, ceviche from £7, barbecue plates from £8, sides £4, cocktails around £8.50. senor-ceviche.com
