Why not make and share our cover recipe?

-

Make our spiced brandy butter and candied orange cake (on p18) then send us a photo of your dish to win a Le Creuset stainless steel square roaster worth £135. It’s versatile, practical and ideal for everyday cooking. It’s also great for sweet or savoury traybakes and desserts, too.

To enter, share your photos on social media with #Ocookcover or email oliveweb@immediate.co.uk with the subject line ‘Cook the cover’ by 30 December. We’ll feature the winner in an upcoming issue.

Last month’s winner, Sarah Williams, says:

“An O magazine subscription was a birthday gift and I’ve enjoyed trying recipes from each edition, and especially love the ones that use ingredients I wouldn’t typically use. This was so easy to do and really tasty. I’ll definitely be making it again!”

From the judges: “The food has been styled well and looks like our cover, allowing us to see all the ingredients, such as the meatballs, chickpeas and the beautiful feta swirl.”

Want to sharpen up your photography skills?

Gillian McNeill, O’s art director, shares her top tips:

1 Choose your angle Show off the food’s most interesting features. While chicken looks lovely from overhead, something else, like a burger, will look stronger from the side.

2 Lighting Bright and sunny? Moody and dark? Make sure your light source matches the mood. Daylight is great but if you have to shoot indoors consider using an out-of-shot table lamp. 3 Props Keep it simple – go for pale woods and neutral ceramics.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS COMPETITION OPEN TO ENTRIES FROM RESIDENTS IN THE UK, ENTRANTS UNDER 18 MUST HAVE PARENT’S OR GUARDIAN’S PERMISSION. SEND US YOUR ENTRIES BY 23.59PM ON 30 DECEMBER. FOR FULL TERMS AND CONDITIONS, VISIT OMAGAZINE.COM/COOKTHECOVER.
