RiM in­no­vates in re­tail on­board

Re­tail in­Mo­tion has an­nounced a new col­lab­o­ra­tion with low-cost car­rier Eurow­ings and NX-FOOD, the in­no­va­tion hub of cash-and­carry brand METRO, in a bid to bring new and ex­cit­ing food so­lu­tions on­board.

NX-FOOD, short for Next Gen­er­a­tion Food, is the fu­ture-scop­ing arm of METRO, seek­ing out new tech­nolo­gies, trends and in­no­va­tive food and bev­er­age prod­ucts shap­ing the fu­ture food sys­tem. It of­fers food start-ups the op­por­tu­nity to show­case their prod­uct in a three-month mar­ket trial at the real hy­per­mar­ket, METRO Cash & Carry, and now on­board Eurow­ings.

The new ven­ture with Eurow­ings will fol­low the same model NX-FOOD uses with on-the-ground re­tail – start-ups will ap­ply to NX-FOOD, all air­lin­eap­pro­pri­ate food and bev­er­ages will be sub­mit­ted for ap­proval by a joint jury, with rep­re­sen­ta­tives in this case from Eurow­ings, NX-FOOD and Re­tail in­Mo­tion, the on­board re­tail arm of LSG Group.

The top ten prod­ucts will pre­sented to the jury in a Drag­ons Den- style as­sess­ment and then up to four prod­ucts will be se­lected to fly for a three­month pe­riod. The prod­uct's life on­board be­yond the three-month trial will be de­cided based on sales data and cus­tomer feed­back, in­clud­ing so­cial me­dia com­ments. At the same time, the jury will be se­lect­ing new menu items in an on­go­ing process to bring fresh prod­ucts on­board.

Re­tail in­Mo­tion is also sup­port­ing Eti­had's du­tyfree bou­tique and an in­no­va­tive new re­tail range of cater­ing, bev­er­age and amenity items with greater fo­cus on per­son­al­i­sa­tion. re­tail­in­mo­tion.com
