Find Food For Fly­ing

“You are what you eat” is a no­tion that is be­com­ing in­creas­ingly pop­u­lar and LSG Group wanted to sup­port pas­sen­gers fo­cused on this by of­fer­ing meal op­tions that specif­i­cally sup­ported body func­tion at 30,000ft. FlyYourVeda was the con­cept specif­i­cally de­signed to sup­port wellbeing on­board, of­fer­ing meals adapted to suit the pas­sen­ger's flight plans (work, rest or play).

The team cre­ated two dif­fer­ent vari­ants of the FlyYourVeda con­cept: one menu de­signed to be ac­ti­vat­ing – sup­port­ing cog­ni­tive func­tions and en­cour­ag­ing a pro­duc­tive flight. While the other menu fo­cused on re­lax­ation and was de­signed to help pas­sen­gers un­wind more eas­ily – a choice par­tic­u­larly rec­om­mended for a night flight.

set pos­i­tive cri­te­ria

The in­gre­di­ents for the FlyYourVeda prod­ucts are cho­sen to set cri­te­ria. They must have a pos­i­tive ef­fect on the body, tak­ing into con­sid­er­a­tion the con­di­tions which af­fect phys­i­cal wellbeing in­flight such as lower air pres­sure, dry air and jet lag when the route is be­tween dif­fer­ent time zones.

Make it su­per

Both menus are based on eas­ily di­gestible, nu­tri­tious, high-qual­ity foods but the ac­ti­vat­ing menu in­cludes su­per­foods such as berries and seeds that pro­mote con­cen­tra­tion and sup­port cog­ni­tive ac­tiv­i­ties on­board.

keep it light

The re­lax­ing vari­ant con­tains plant pro­teins and has been de­signed not to 'lie heavy in the stom­ach', some­thing ex­pe­ri­enced even more in­flight, where the di­ges­tive sys­tem has to grap­ple with the lower air pres­sure and may be af­fected by the stresses that some­times come with travel. FlyYourVeda tries to coun­ter­act these ef­fects and sup­port body func­tion.

Ini­tially the con­cept was a re­sponse to de­mands from Busi­ness trav­ellers but with grow­ing num­bers of health­con­scious fly­ers in ev­ery cabin, LSG Group's Culi­nary Ex­cel­lence team co­op­er­ated with its pack­ag­ing and de­sign col­leagues at SPIRIANT and the pack­aged prod­ucts team at Ever­taste to cre­ate two dis­pos­able tray set-ups avail­able for com­pli­men­tary, buy-on­board or pre-or­der.
