Top marks for Edge Hill Uni

-

STUDENT satisfaction at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, has risen to record levels, as shown in the National Stud- ent Survey where the institution has achieved equal fifth position among English universities.

The National Student Survey is the most important measure of student satisfaction and Edge Hill has achieved their highest ever scores, continuing to rise from last year’s record performance with a satisfaction score of 4.24 out of 5, based on responses to all 23 questions.

The Ormskirk institution is ranked above the national average for overall satisfaction, and for all the specific indicators in the survey including teaching, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources and personal development.

A strong performance across the range of subjects includes being ranked, top two in the UK for biology, nutrition, management studies, law and criminology.

The University is also top in the North West for biology, history and law and criminology.

The success of the Edge Hill experience in enhancing students’ personal development was ranked as the best in the region on a number of programmes including business studies, biology and nursing.

Edge Hill vice-chancellor, Dr John Cater, said: “It is very encouraging to see that we have improved Edge Hill students’ satisfaction in an academic year which has also seen the institution voted as having the best student accommodation in the UK, and awarded the Times Higher Education ranking for best student experience in the North West. Exceeding the national average for satisfaction on all measures means we have our work cut out for us to maintain this high standard.

“However, with the acknowledged excellence of our staff and researchers, the opening of our new £13m technology hub, and the construction of an additional 168 single-study ensuite bedrooms, I am confident Edge Hill will continue to rank among the best universities in the country.”

More than 312,000 final-year students responded to the survey. It was conducted by Ipsos MORI on behalf of UK funding bodies, provides valuable information for prospective students, and helps universities to improve the education they provide.
