Students hailed for peformance
WEST Lancashire College Performing Arts Students are celebrating after winning four awards at the North West District 6 National Operatic and Dramatic Association Awards held recently in Southport Theatre & Convention Centre.
During the evening the amateur theatre nominees received medals, bars, badges and certificates from the society to show appreciation and to commemorate their years of service to amateur theatre.
West Lancashire College students were nominated for 15 awards and took home 4 including the big Best Overall Youth Production for Much Ado about Nothing.
The awards have provided fantastic recognition for such talented young people in West Lancashire College.

Best female lead in a musical – Chloe Taylor
Best female lead in a play – Niamh Donnelly Best male in a play – Alexander Tighe All four winners from the evening will now go forward to the regional awards, which will be held at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester’s Piccadilly on April 29 2017.
Deb Fletcher, course tutor, said: ”It was truly a wonderful evening for West Lancashire College Performing Arts department.
“We have extremely talented and committed students and are super proud of their success at the awards and the recognition they have received.
“We are very excited about going forward to the regional awards in Manchester in April and hoping to have even more success.’’
The college’s next production is William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, showing in the Hope Theatre, West Lancashire College on March 23 and 24, starting at 7pm.
