Get out and enjoy great outdoors

-

ENJOY the great outdoors at some fantastic events organised by West Lancashire Borough Council’s Parks and Countryside Service Rangers in April.

The Clieves Hill Circular Walk, on Monday, April 3, is a six-mile ramble around Ormskirk exploring footpaths through the wider local countryside.

The walk is open to all and will be set at a relaxed, manageable pace. Meet at the Bowling Green Pavilion, Coronation Park, at 9.50am for a 10am start.

On Sunday, April 16, the rangers are hosting a 12-mile guided walk through the countryside of Burscough and Rufford on the Burscough Wetlands Walk.

The walk covers open countryside, with a focus on wildlife-rich woodlands and wetlands.

Meet at Platts Lane Car Park, Burscough, at 9.50am for a 10am start.

Volunteers can help the rangers with the Tawd Valley Park clean-up on Saturday, April 22, starting at 10am.

They will be clearing litter and debris from the river and footpaths and making this hidden jewel in the heart of Skelmersdale sparkle a little bit more brightly.

Meet at the lower car park (nearest the river) behind Skelmersdale Library at 9.50am for a 10am start.

Please be aware that this is a practical countryside event and dress in appropriate clothing and footwear. A pair of decent work gloves is advisable.

Then on Saturday, April 29, people can enjoy a Bee Safari around Beacon Country Park with experts from Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s ‘Plan Bee’ project. There will be talks about bees, their importance and what we can do to help them.

Meet at the Visitor Centre, Beacon Country Park, Up Holland at 1.50pm for a 2pm start. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult at all these events.

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for each event.
