THE date has been set for one of the biggest free family events in the North West of England to take place in Ormskirk – and you can help make it an even bigger success.

The Ormskirk MotorFest has been a hugely popular occasion since it began in 2011, attracting around 30,000 people in 2015 and 2016.

The 2017 event, organised by Aintree Circuit Club and supported by West Lancashire Borough Council, takes place on Sunday, August 27.

Owners of classic, vintage and competition cars can now visit www.ormskirkmotorfest.com for information on how to enter.

Organisers are appealing for sponsors to come forward and help make it even more special for this year.

Councillor John Hodson said: “The Ormskirk MotorFest has proved incredibly popular with people across the North West and we are appealing for sponsors to come forward and support it.

“If a number of businesses or individuals donate a small sum of money, that can make a big difference to the event for this year and the future.

“Given the huge numbers of people the MotorFest attracts, this is a fantastic opportunity for you to showcase your business or organisation.”

The Concours de Elegance competition will once again be a major attraction at the MotorFest. This will see some truly wonderful vehicles line up to for expert judges to cast their eye over them.

Halsall-based Carequick Ltd Air Conditioning is sponsoring the Concours de Elegance for the third successive year.

This attraction will complement the superb town centre displays, which will feature a fantastic variety of classic and modern cars and motorbikes.

Mike Ashcroft, Aintree Circuit Club chairman, said: “Put the date in your diary now for the 2017 Ormskirk MotorFest as it will be a fantastic event.”

Anyone interested in sponsoring the event can contact Colin Brady, technical services manager, at colin.brady@westlancs.gov.uk or on 01695 585125.

Councillor Hodson said: “With so many visitors expected to come to MotorFest we would also hope that town centre businesses will take advantage of this opportunity and open their premises to customers on the day.”
