Erin’s Got Talent as singing star, 12, scoops show title

ATALENTED young singer from Ormskirk has followed in the footsteps of former X Factor contestant Keira Weathers, by winning a Merseyside talent competitio­n.

Erin Howard, 12, who attends the Kelly Shirley School of Dance, in Burscough, was crowned St Helens Got Talent Junior Winner 2017 at The Theatre Royal, St Helens, last Saturday.

Having made it through the audition process last August, she confirmed her place in the Grand Final earlier this year.

On Saturday, she wowed the judging panel and an audience of around 700 people with her version of That’s Life, from the TV series, Smash, to win the title.

The 10th annual event was hosted by Wish FM’s Chris Milow and included a pianist and vocalist and dance performers from around the region, culminatin­g in guest appearance­s by last year’s winners.

This year’s winners and runners-up were: Junior category 1 - Erin Howard 2 - Millie Mae Hill 3 - Yasmin Devlin Dean Performanc­e category 1 - Apex 2 - SP Elites 3 - Holly Selby Senior 1 - Emily Smith 2 - Ellis Halton 3 - Sarah Prescott Erin said: “I want to thank everyone from the team for giving me the opportunit­y to sing and perform at their show.

“I’m so excited to have won and made lots of friends along the way.”

St Helens Got Talent organiser Natalie Gabriel later said: “Wow, what an amazing show! Well done to everyone who took part”.

The competitio­n, which is organised by Merseyside police’s Neighbourh­ood Team, aims to break down barriers between police and young people and their families in the area.
