Community Link Foundation

ALOCAL football team will be able to improve their clubhouse, thanks to a grant from Community Link Foundation.

Burscough Dynamo FC are a club for boys and girls who train together and play competitive matches.

They inherited a pavilion from West Lancashire Council but the facility hasn’t been used for many years because of the the poor upkeep of the surrounding pitches.

The club was given a 25-year lease in 2016, having secured funding for pitch renovation work to enable the facility to be used again.

And now they want to start work on improving the community room within the pavilion.

The grant they have received from Community Link Foundation will be used towards replacing the heating within the pavilion.

The heating system is old and was damaged last year during a break-in.

The grant means that funds already raised by the club can be used to replace goalposts, line marking equipment and other items to make sure the pitches can be used by all teams.

Once the pavilion has been refurbished, the club hope to hire it out to small community groups for meetings and seminars and as a classroom for training courses run by the FA.

The club’s chairman, Simon Kenyon, said: “Burscough Dynamo Football Club are very grateful for the support of the Community Link Foundation and their grant towards our refurbishment of the pavilion.

“The club is developing rapidly and moving forward with a new chapter in our history by moving back home to the Thomas Galvin Sports Ground, Abbey Lane, Burscough, for the new season.

“We are also thankful for the support of our parents, coaches, players, committee and the local community with this project.”

Enda Rylands, chairman of Community Link Foundation, said: “We are pleased to be able to help Burscough Dynamo with the refurbishment work they are doing which will make a real difference to the children who are part of the club, and the wider local community.

“We look forward to seeing the club continue to grow.”
