I changed my life by losing 3st in 7 months
A72-YEAR-OLD woman from West Lancashire lost three stone in weight – in just seven months.
Joyce Carrol began her weight loss effort in January 2015, when she joined Ormskirk Slimming World.
She reached her target weight in just seven months by dropping from 13st 1lb to 9st 13lb and has now been named as her group’s “diamond member of 2017”.
The title is awarded to the most inspirational member who has lost weight and maintained their new shape.
Joyce, who dropped from a size 18/20 to a size 12/14 in clothes, originally joined the group to support her daughter.
She said: “When I first came to the group I found it hard to believe I’d ever reach my target weight because I’d tried so many diets before and they’d never worked for me.
“Of course what I really had to learn is that quick-fix diets don’t work, I needed to completely change my lifestyle and that’s exactly what Slimming World has taught me to do.”
She added: “Each week in group I pick up new ideas and recipes – even now after three years at target. My life is completely unrecognisable now and I’m happier, healthier and fitter than ever.”
Joyce has continued to attend the Ormskirk Slimming World group and believes that without its constant support she would have struggled to keep the weight off.
She said: “Everyone inspired and supported me to achieve my target and now it’s my turn to do the same for other people, to show the same kindness, warmth and compassion that I was shown.
“It’s not completely selfless though, coming to group keeps me on track too and we always have a lot of fun.”
Joyce’s Ormskirk Diamond title puts her in the running for the national title of Slimming World Diamond Member 2017.
The overall winner, chosen from one of the 16,000 groups in the UK and Ireland, will take home £2,000 and be announced next month.
