Gin event at wharf

BURSCOUGH Gin Festival is returning to the wharf after the first event was a sellout.

Jack and Gin is hosting the event this Saturday (August 12) with the team expecting another successful evening.

Owner Rob Baker, who owned popular Southport restaurant The Barking Frog for more than a decade before it shut in 2014, has worked in catering since he was just 14.

Jack and Gin offers a whopping forty different types of gin ‘‘to tantalise every palate”.

Rob said: “The first festival in March drew a crowd of over 500 and everyone loved it – so doing it a second time was a ‘no-brainer’ really.

“We’ll have a number of gin producers there on the night, which is sponsored by Fentimans, and we’ll have three live acts as well.

“It really will be a night to remember.”

The festival will take place at Burscough Wharf, alongside the Leeds-Liverpool canal, under gazebos, from 5pm to 2am, with live 10.30pm.

A number of gin houses will be giving tasting sessions, as well as discussing how their gins are made.

Snacks will also be provided – and a variety of other drinks, including draught beers.

Rob added: “Guests will get a Bombay Sapphire infused gin with tonic on arrival, as well as a wristband to taste up to 10 gins.’’

Tickets cost £10 and are available from Jack & Gin on 07889 398439 or at eventbrite.com/e/gin-festival-tickets-35433535659 music until
