Fastrack teaches Dylan new tricks

-

AFTER spending his younger years in the circus, Dylan Birch decided it was time to get back into education and pursue his teaching dreams through Edge Hill University’s Fastrack course.

Dylan always had a passion for performing arts and often helped rigging lighting or assisting behind the scenes with productions at school.

When he was 14, a circus visited Bootle, where he lives, and he approached them and asked if he could get some experience with them.

They agreed and after spending two weeks with them, he wanted more and went on to work with some of the greats, including Billy Smart’s Circus and the Moscow State Circus

Dylan had a bad experience at college due to anxiety, but after visiting friends at Edge Hill who told him how supportive everyone was, he decided it was the place for him.

He is hoping to start an English language degree at Edge Hill, with the hope of becoming a university lecturer.

“I really enjoyed the English sessions, particularly the subjects we covered relating to English Language,” he said.

“Perhaps if I’m lucky I could go on to become a Fastrack tutor at Edge Hill as giving others the opportunity I had would be amazing.

“Without Edge Hill I’d have given up on my aspirations – I’m truly grateful to everyone who made it possible.”
