THE Fifth Annual Yabba Dabba Doo charity event raised £37,000 for youth cancer research at The Christie’s Cancer Hospital in Manchester.

The event, hosted by co-founder and CEO of The DDC Group, Jan Trevalyan, was held on Saturday, November 11 on the grounds of Mr Trevalyan and his partner Lisa Marriott’s picturesque country home in Lathom, West Lancashire.

The evening was a grand success – raising £37,000 towards cutting edge research in interventional radiology for the treatment of childhood cancer.

The Christie’s 3D intervention system provides minimally invasive “pinhole” procedures using image guidance technology to deliver targeted cancer treatment, as well as to relieve the effects of cancer on other parts of the body – such as life threatening blood clots or blockages to major organs.

The life saving benefits from this research is monumental.

The evening was one full of laughs and heartfelt tears as Jan gave a moving speech that touched the hearts of many who have lost loved ones or have personally suffered from cancer.

Entertainment included an electric violin duo, cyr wheel artist and spectacular musical fireworks display by World Fireworks Champions Blitz Fireworks.

There was also music by the Marc Kenny Band, a DJ set by Danny Bee, Pic & Pose photo booth, a raffle and an auction.

A fine three-course meal was served by D’vine Catering, with cupcakes by Amelia and cocktails and flair bar tending by Flair ‘N’ Funk.

The raffle featured a wide array of prizes.

But the auction was the main highlight of the evening, with key items for sale including an Oasis guitar signed by all the band members; Pangea silver glitter elephant, jaguar and horse statues; football and rugby packages; diamond earrings; and a day of racing with the Stig.

Event organiser Chantelle Drewery of Southport-based Having a Ball Events worked closely with Jan, Lisa and John Latham for months in the planning. She said: “The atmosphere was incredible on the night.

“This year was bigger and better than ever before. We can’t thank you all enough for the huge amount of money we have raised to everyone who donated during our fantastic raffle and those of you who really dug deep to bid on our amazing auction prizes.”

Jan, creator and host of the Yabba Dabba Doo said: “I think it’s important to give back where you can.

“The funds raised from this charity will do an incredible amount of good – helping our little ones with cancer fight to live full lives and indeed be able to grow up as our future doctors, lawyers and leaders of the world.”
