Whirlwind tour of NYC
EIGHTEEN students from Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Engineering College recently returned from an ‘experience-packed’ five-day visit to New York City.
The Year 11 students covered Upper, Middle and Lower Manhattan on their sightseeing tour of this iconic urban jungle, visiting famous landmarks including the Statue of Liberty, 9/11 memorial Freedom Tower, Broadway, the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Building, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Macey’s, Times Square, Trump Tower, Central Park, Columbus Circle, Chrysler Building, Little Italy and Chinatown.
Trip leader Mrs Sue Quane commented: “It was, once again, a pleasure to be able to take our students on a trip that gives them such a unique and potentially life-changing experience. We live in an ever-growing competitive and accessible world so trips like this for our students can prove invaluable as they consider and plan their future.
“Such an experience for a 15-16 year-old could quite easily influence the career path they choose.
“As well as visiting landmarks and seeing the iconic architecture of New York City, the students get to experience the local, diverse culture and immerse themselves into life in the City that Never Sleeps.
“Our Lady Queen of Peace has offered this trip to Year 11 students for several years now and, once again, the students have been a real credit to their families and to our school as they fully embraced the packed, exhilarating experience of New York.”
