With Cllr Neil Furey
ON Tuesday, November 21 I attended the West Lancashire Heritage and Environment Design Awards evening at the council offices in Ormskirk.
I was very impressed with the award-winning homes, and architects have done superb work in designing them.
I was also delighted to see the new council homes at Firbeck in Skelmersdale receiving a design award.
On Thursday, November 23 I presented Lathom High School Year 11 students with their exam certificates.
It was great to see so many students doing so well in their exams and I wish them will with their further education and employment.
On Friday I attended the Christmas Lights Switch-On in Ormskirk town centre and I was joined by our fantastic town crier Don Evans and the tribute act to Neil Diamond.
The weather wasn’t too kind but people still crowded into the town centre to enjoy the entertainment and join in the carol service.
Later that evening I hosted a charity evening at Stanley Institute in Burscough.
Guests enjoyed superb entertainment from international singer Rachael Russell and Kelly Shirley School of Dance.
We raised a significant sum for local charities and I’m grateful to everyone who attended on the evening.
On Saturday I attended the West Lancashire Veterans’ monthly breakfast meeting at Toby Carvery in Ormskirk.
At the meeting I met with families of veterans who have recently passed away and presented them with a memorable gift as we honoured each of them.
Then on the Sunday my wife and I attended the Scarisbrick Parish Council annual civic service at Bescar Lane Methodist Church.
It was a lovely service and it was great to see a full congregation.
Thank you to everyone who attended to support the work of Scarisbrick Parish Council.
Finally, it’s only 24 days until Christmas and I hope everyone is getting ready for the big day.
