Who are Your Heroes? Time to tell us ...

-

THE search is on for Your Heroes 2018 and we want to hear who you think should be named School of the Year.

We have once again teamed up with the ScottishPower Foundation to launch this year’s Your Heroes awards, to give recognition to the people who give so selflessly for others.

The Scottish Power Foundation is the official sponsor of the awards, supporting the glittering event to be held on Wednesday, January 24 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, in Southport, when our shortlisted nominees will be invited to a special night of celebration.

ScottishPower launched the foundation to reinforce the energy company’s commitment to charitable work throughout Britain. Its aim is to make a significant and lasting contribution to society and enhance the quality of life in local communities.

Now we need you to nominate a community hero who you think deserves reward for their outstanding contribution.

We are looking for nominations in five categories: Person of the Year. Young person of the Year. Team of the Year. Sportsperson of Year. School of the Year. Last year’s school title was won by Christ the King Catholic High School in Southport, with the judges hugely impressed by its charitable efforts.

Pupils and staff at the school were so moved by the work of the Queenscourt hospice that they made it their dedicated fundraising mission and raised nearly £18,000 in just two years.

But who will win this year?

There are so many wonderful things done on behalf of our children so if you want to make sure a deserving school gets its recognition, send in your nomination.

Andrew Brown, editor of the Southport Visiter and Ormskirk Advertiser series of titles, said: “Nominating is easy. So, if you know someone who deserves a Your Heroes award, please send your entries to us today.

“Please help us to say ‘thank you’ to a school which really deserves it.”

Nominations are now open and will close on Friday, December 15. the
