Police in plea for help over attack on bus

AWOMAN dragged a mum off a bus by her hair and punched her in the face in a drunken attack.

The victim, 56, and her daughter, 39, were verbally abused on the X2 bus between Southport and Preston, before being assaulted by a man and woman.

The incident happened on Wednesday, July 12, at about 7.10pm, when the pair were on the X2 Stagecoach bus between Southport and Preston.

When the bus stopped near the New Fleetwood pub, Banks, they were confronted by a man and a woman under the influence of alcohol, after complainin­g about the conduct of a group of people on the bus.

The pair subjected the woman and her daughter to verbal abuse, with the mum being dragged off the bus by her hair by the female offender, who also dragged the daughter into a bush.

The man punched the mother to the face.

Lancashire police have now released CCTV images of two people detectives want to speak to in connection with the incident.

The woman is described as white, in her late 40s, with shoulder-length, brown hair.

She was wearing a white top, orange trousers and an orange scarf and had orange painted fingernail­s.

The man was white, around 5ft 6ins, stocky, with short, brown and greying hair and facial stubble.

He was wearing a navy blue shirt.

Anyone who recognises these people, or was on the bus at the time, is urged to contact Lancashire police online or by calling 01772 412 987, quoting log 1467 of July 12.
