Moor Hall gets second Michelin star
MOOR Hall restaurant in Aughton has claimed yet another prestigious award – this time becoming only the second venue in the North West of England to receive two Michelin stars.
The restaurant with rooms opened to huge acclaim in 2016 and has since gone on to rack up rave reviews and a series of awards.
In the past month alone, it has been included in the Good Food Guide 2019 and become one of just 19 restaurants to be awarded a fifth rosette by the AA Restaurant Guide, which recognises the very highest in culinary skills and standards.
Moor Hall, which is run by business partners Andy and Tracey Bell alongside chef patron Mark Birchall, has continued its remarkable success by being awarded two Michelin stars in this year’s guide.
Just 20 establishments in the UK and Ireland received such an honour, with Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria – where Mark was previously head chef – the only other inclusion from the North West.
Moor Hall which also offers luxury hotel rooms, opened following a multimillion pound makeover of its Grade II listed Manor House.
Mark said: “A second Michelin star is the dream – we are thrilled.
“It’s been an amazing year, but we are very focused on growing the business, and making sure our customers not only enjoy their experience at Moor Hall, but come back and tell their friends.”
“We’re very proud of our achievements. The team has worked hard to create a food offering that is distinctive but accessible, and a service style that is welcoming, yet still professional.”
Moor Hall is preparing to host a Lancashire Day event on November 27, when TV chefs Nigel Haworth and Paul Heathcote will join Mark.
The evening will feature a Lancashirethemed six-course taster menu, priced at £165 per person.
