Road line mystery

RESIDENTS have been left perplexed after a bizarre road marking appeared on a small residential street last week.

One man who lives on Calder Avenue in Ormskirk says the ‘random’ white stripe, which is just a few metres in length, seemed to materialise overnight.

He said: “This is a tiny, quiet, 20mph street with no through traffic.

“It’s totally pointless because the only vehicles are either residents or deliveries.

“I fail to see why road markings are needed - full stop - but this is just strange.

“To be clear, there are absolutely no other markings along this road.”

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: “It would appear that this line has been repainted by a utility company after making a repair to that section of the road.

“The centre line on the rest of the road has faded and we will add it to our list for future maintenance.”
