Teen needed surgery af­ter hor­ror at­tack

ATEENAGER was left need­ing plas­tic surgery af­ter be­ing slashed in the face by mug­gers.

The vic­tim, an 18-yearold male, was push­ing his bike in Skelmers­dale when he was as­saulted and robbed.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened at around 10.15pm on Wed­nes­day, on a path between Bir­ley­wood Health Cen­tre and Christ the Ser­vant Church.

He was ap­proached by three men who slashed him across the face be­fore steal­ing his bike and iPhone.

He was taken to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment to his in­juries, which po­lice said will need plas­tic surgery.

De­tec­tives are now ap­peal­ing for in­for­ma­tion, with the rob­bers de­scribed as three men, aged about 18, wear­ing dark cloth­ing and pos­si­bly bal­a­clavas.

De­tec­tive Con­sta­ble Andy Gill, of Skelmers­dale Po­lice, said: “This was a nasty as­sault which has left a young man with some se­ri­ous in­juries.

“I would ap­peal to any­one with in­for­ma­tion or who saw any­thing sus­pi­cious in the area to get in touch.”
