Family’s tribute to tragic grandad
AMUCH loved grandad died on Christmas Eve four days after he was hit by a car. The heartbroken family of Keith Duckworth, 65, have paid an emotional tribute after he went for a drink and never returned home.
Mr Duckworth, from Maghull, was injured in a collision involving a Ford Focus at the entrance to the car park of the Coach and Horses pub, Maghull, on Thursday, December 20.
He was taken to hospital but did not recover from his injuries and died on Christmas Eve.
The crash happened at around 6.40pm and police said that the driver, who stopped at the scene, was continuing to help with inquiries. In a statement released through Merseyside police, his family said: “Keith lived life the way he wanted to. He was a big part of our family and we are all devastated.
“Keith went for a pint in his local pub. Never did we think he wouldn’t return home.
“He was a very much loved husband, dad and grandad, brother and friend and we are going to miss him.”
Mr Duckworth’s family is being supported by a family liaison officer.
