Fam­ily’s trib­ute to tragic grandad

AMUCH loved grandad died on Christ­mas Eve four days af­ter he was hit by a car. The heart­bro­ken fam­ily of Keith Duck­worth, 65, have paid an emo­tional trib­ute af­ter he went for a drink and never re­turned home.

Mr Duck­worth, from Maghull, was in­jured in a col­li­sion in­volv­ing a Ford Fo­cus at the en­trance to the car park of the Coach and Horses pub, Maghull, on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 20.

He was taken to hospi­tal but did not re­cover from his in­juries and died on Christ­mas Eve.

The crash hap­pened at around 6.40pm and po­lice said that the driver, who stopped at the scene, was con­tin­u­ing to help with in­quiries. In a state­ment re­leased through Mersey­side po­lice, his fam­ily said: “Keith lived life the way he wanted to. He was a big part of our fam­ily and we are all dev­as­tated.

“Keith went for a pint in his lo­cal pub. Never did we think he wouldn’t re­turn home.

“He was a very much loved hus­band, dad and grandad, brother and friend and we are go­ing to miss him.”

Mr Duck­worth’s fam­ily is be­ing sup­ported by a fam­ily li­ai­son of­fi­cer.
