AMAN slashed his ex-girlfriend’s car tyres in a fit of anger after being told not to see their son that day.

Daniel Mooney, 25, cycled from his home, carrying a kitchen knife, and slashed two wheels on Parris Taylor-Black’s car while their eightmonth-old son was inside the house.

Adrian Hollandby, prosecuting at Preston Magistrates’ Court, said that Ms Taylor-Black was looking after their son at her home, on Smithy Lane in Scarisbrick, on the morning of October 13 when she noticed some- one crouching by her car in the drive way.

When she looked closer, she saw it was her ex-partner and that he was stabbing a tyre. It was later discovered that two tyres had been slashed.

Mooney, now of Whalley Drive, Aughton, then tried to get into the house through the front door and the pair began arguing until Ms TaylorBlack’s grandad arrived at the house and the police were called.

Mooney and Ms TaylorBlack had been in a relationship for three years and lived together before splitting up in June last year.

Kerry Doyle, defending, said that they had been exchanging text messages earlier in the morning which ended with Ms Taylor-Black telling Mooney not to bother seeing their son that day, prompting the angry response

Ms Doyle said that Mooney had no history of domestic violence or similar offences and has sought help for his anger issues.

She added that he is also receiving support for his cannabis use and had fully admitted his actions when questioned by police. Mooney pleaded guilty to criminal damage and possession of a knife and was given a 12-week suspended sentence by Magistrate Ms McIntosh and along with a 12 month community order and a restraining order banning him from contacting Ms Taylor-Black or entering Smithy Lane.

Including compensation to the victim, he was fined a total of £370.
