Body found in estuary is missing student Adam

-

ABODY found in the Ribble Estuary has been confirmed as missing Edge Hill University student Adam Seaton.

Adam, 20, had gone missing from his home in Marshside, Southport, on Thursday, August 9 and a widespread campaign for information had been carried out since.

His family issued repeated appeals for information and posters were placed in shops and businesses all over Southport as the town rallied round.

Volunteer search parties were formed by various groups after the disappearance of the popular student, who also worked at the town’s Morrisons superstore.

But on Friday last week, Merseyside police confirmed that the body found near Banks one week earlier was Adam.

In a statement, the force said that there was nothing to suggest there were anything suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and the matter was referred to the coroner.

Hundreds of tributes and messages of support were sent within minutes of the news becoming public.

A spokesman for Edge Hill said: “The university offers its sincere condolences to Adam’s family and friends and we will continue to do everything we can to help and provide support during this difficult time.”

Among the many to offer their condolences online, Caroline Plant said: “Deepest condolence to Adams family at this very sad time, everyone had hope that he would come home but not this way.

“R.I.P Adam you will be sadly missed.”

And Moira Kent wrote: “I taught Adam. He was a joy to have in the classroom. Rest in peace Adam.

“My thoughts are with your wonderful family who have been examples of love, dignity and hope throughout the long months.”
