Bishop joins Little Saints
HESKETH Bank welcomed Bishop Philip North to officially open Little Saints Nursery School.
The Bishop of Burnley, who has also been on BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day, enjoyed lunch with representatives of All Saints School (teachers, Governors and School Council) before being introduced to the children and parents at Little Saints.
He joined in with songs including Humpty Dumpty, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and The Grand Old Duke of York and served tea following the official ribbon-cutting.
He said: “I love the name Little Saints.”
The Bishop was then taken on a tour of the whole school and joined in with collective worship.
Headteacher Tony Currie said: “We are blessed to have the Bishop open our nursery.
“Little Saints Nursery prepares the children incredibly well for school and gives them an easier transition to reception class. The children love being a Little Saint!”
Reverend Dave from All Saints Church, Hesketh Bank, who also attended the ceremony, added: “The kids have been magnificent as always – that’s because of the wonderful partnership – staff, kids, families, supporters, governors, church.
“God has a lot to do with this as well – let’s give Him all the Glory.”
Mr Currie thanked Mrs Bennett, Miss Pickering and Mrs Grills who have been running the nursery for a year, which has 23 places and is already a fun and busy place to be!
