Ruthless streak won us match

- BY SAM CARROLL

PAUL McNally believes it is ‘all about moving forward’ at Skelmersdale United after returning to form with a stunning 5-0 win at Winsford United on Saturday.

United were nine games without victory heading into the fixture but a double from Richard Brodie as well as efforts from Emini Adegbenro, Tom Croughan and debutant Joshua Klein-Davies secured an emphatic result.

“It was efficient, ruthless and well-deserved,” McNally said.

“The most pleasing thing is to score that many goals and the way we played. The confidence was back.

“It’s a really good dressing room at the moment and we’re hoping to build. We’ve still got lads who weren’t in the squad today so it’s about moving forward now.”

Klein-Davies arrived on dualregistration from Prescot Cables last week and McNally also praised the individual performances of Jack Grimshaw and Marvin Molyneux as United look to continue their momentum at Longridge

Town this weekend.

“I got a text off [Prescot Cables co-manager] Steve [Pilling]. Josh has just signed for Prescot and needs game-time and we said we’d give him it.

“He had a dead leg and we put him on the bench but I thought it worked a treat to be honest.

“You can see he needs match fitness but you can see his class.

“We come out, we were resolute, we set our stall out and as the game went on we got stronger and stronger.

“There were some dominant, excellent performances in midfield. “Jack Grimshaw was immense and Marvin Molyneux was outstanding. I thought the back-five, it’s a long time since we’ve had a clean-sheet, I thought they were outstanding. It was great.”

Skelmersdale paid their respects to club legend Stan Allen who passed away at the end of November.

Allen joined the Blues from Kirby Town at the start of the 196869 season and won numerous medals with the club including the triumphant Amateur Cup victory in 1971.
