Residents all set to go to the polls

- BY JAMIE LOPEZ

WEST Lancashire residents will go to the polls on May 5 as more than one third of the council seats are contested.

A total of 20 councillors will be elected on a night in which the leadership of the overall council will also be decided.

Last year, Labour lost overall control and the results of this vote will again have a significant impact on the running of the local authority.

A new leader will be elected no matter what the overall administration is, with current leader Councillor Ian Moran not standing for re-election.

Below is a list of every West Lancashire candidate looking to be elected in May across those 19 wards (two councillors will be elected in Burscough East).

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm to vote in person. You can also vote by post or nominate someone to vote on your behalf.
