Essential pocket guide to European beer travel released
Ideal book to help beer-lovers plan their breaks
BEER lovers can now plan their next European getaway with Beer Breaks - the essential pocket guide to European beer travel, featuring over 30 destinations, all easily accessible from the UK.
Featured destinations include Barcelona, Berlin, Bristol, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Madrid, Porto, Tallinn and Vienna, among others. Each entry includes selected tourist highlights, food recommendations, itineraries for first-time visitors, accommodation and travel options.
In addition, readers will find bespoke beer bars, cafes, restaurants and taphouses where they can experience the very best of each city’s beer scene, compiled by a worldrenowned beer expert.
Author Tim Webb edited CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide Belgium for nearly 30 years and has put his expertise into other international guides such as the World Atlas of Beer, Pocket Beer Book, LambicLand and 100 Belgian Beers to Try Before You Die!
Webb says: “I loved compiling this book, as I got to choose surprise destinations and venues that I know will delight. Most big flavour beers and top beer venues have survived the pandemic and are out there waiting to be tried. So, as COVID restrictions lift, it’s time to feed that pent-up urge to travel, and get some really fresh beer experiences.”
The guide lists over 200 venues across the featured cities, with colour photography throughout. Beer Breaks is now available from the CAMRA Shop and Amazon for £15.99 (CAMRA members discounts apply).

The Mason’s Arms in Anchor Street, Southport, is putting on Rudgate Ruby Mild from York to mark CAMRA’s Make May Mild month.
Described as ‘nutty, deeply rich and satisfying ruby ale’, this beer won Gold in the Mild category at The Great British Beer Festival 2017 in CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Britain competition. This is your chance to try this award-winning beer before it goes.
The popular Bent & Bongs Beer Festival which was due to be held in Atherton later this month has had to be cancelled. The organisers now plan to hold it in February 2023.
