Psychic night for kids is just wrong

-

Dear Magenta I am writing to you for advice.

My 12-year-old daughter came home from school and said one of her friends was having a psychic night for kids.

It was £15 a head, with tea leaf readings, and the person holding it is apparently a spiritualist medium.

Do you know anything about this?

I am angry and I am not allowing her to go.

Children are impressionable and God knows what harm it could do.

I also can’t believe someone would charge kids money for this.

I don’t think it’s right. What do you think and can I do anything?

Linda Dear Linda I can honestly say I have never heard of anything like this either.

I don’t know of any spiritualist medium who would do this. It beggars belief.

I have asked other mediums and they, like me, know nothing of this and are equally horrified.

If you do get the name, contact the person to ask which church they are with and where they are accredited.

I am sure this will not be an accredited medium.

If you then want to follow it up, contact Trading Standards, as they may be able to help you further.

You are doing the right thing – I wouldn’t let my child attend either, nor should her friends’ parents.

Children have vivid imaginations and this is dangerous.

Thank you for telling me about this.

Magenta
