The price has got to be right Saints hold out over McAllister transfer

- Colan Lamont

Saints supremo Tony Fitzpatrick has rubbished reports that starlet Kyle McAllister is on his way to Derby for £200,000.

It has been widely reported that Brighton, Derby and Stoke have all registered an interest in the 18-year-old midfielder.

But Fitzpatrick says any stories suggesting a deal has been done are wide of the mark.

With rumours circulating that Stevie Mallan could also be on his way to Barnsley, the St Mirren chief executive has moved to reassure fans that players won’t be sold for peanuts.

In fact, he says there is no way that the club will ever consider selling McAllister for a dresiory figure like £200,000.

He says only big offers will be considered and that the days of selling players for next to nothing are over.

Fitzpatrick said: “There are lots of reports floating about but none of them are true.

“No deals have been done and we would not accept an offer that small for a player like Kyle.

“We are proud to have developed two young players who are being linked with big clubs, but we look to keep our best ones.

“If we get a bid we listen, but it would have to be significant for us to even consider it.

“If it was anything like reported, there wouldn’t be a discussion.”

Meanwhile, the club also announced yesterday that it has reached an agreement with goalkeeper Scott Gallacher to mutually terminate his contract.

The keeper joined the club in July from Alloa on a one-year contract but found securing a starting place difficult.
