Woman lost the plot in row with lover

Girlfriend’s fury lands her in court

- David Campbell

27.01.2017 Cops were called after a woman labelled her partner a‘mummy’s boy’ during a row over family.

Claire Donachie, 25, has been ordered to stay out of trouble after she shouted abuse at her former partner during the rammy.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard this week that Donachie and her then boyfriend, Scott Brandon, became involved in an argument after spending a weekend together.

Depute fiscal John Penman told the court: “At around 3pm, an argument started between them regarding Mr Brandon’s family. The argument went on for around 30 minutes.

“The accused made disparaging remarks about Mr Brandon’s mother and the argument escalated.”

As the row went on, the court heard that Mr Brandon called the police, who arrived to be greeted by an irate Donachie, who told them to “f**k off”.

The prosecutor went on: “Officers were eventually allowed entry. The accused stormed off to her bedroom, stating, ‘if the police arrest me, I’m going to get you murdered’.

“At this point, Mr Brandon punched a wooden frame in frustration.”

Her defence agent, Marco Buonaccorsi, told the court his client had called Mr Brandon a ‘mummy’s boy’ during the incident on November 21 last year.

He added: “It is Ms Donachie’s position that the punch thrown by Mr Brandon was, in fact, aimed at her and she stepped out of the way.

“This is a relationship which only lasted around a month and is now completely over.

“She suffers from very severe depression and anxiety.”

Donachie admitted acting in a threatening and abusive manner towards Mr Brandon.

Sheriff Seith Ireland deferred sentence on Donachie for her to be of good behaviour as she is a first-time offender.

He said: “If you ever become involved in a situation like this again, I would ask you to count to 150, so you don’t get involved in any disturbance of like this again.

“You need to learn to deal with these situations rationally.”

Donachie, of Springbank Road Paisley, will return to court on July 11 to learn her fate.
