Grassroots football team Renfrew Victoria FC has received a brand new kit courtesy of local McDonald’s franchisee Peter O’Keefe and the McDonald’s SFA Kit Scheme.

The McDonald’s kit scheme, now in its third year, has provided over 175,000 kits to clubs across the UK.

This year has seen a huge number of applications from clubs across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, who were eligible to order a brand new kit choosing from a number of styles and colours.

To mark the occasion, Renfrew Victoria invited local McDonald’s franchisee Peter to come along to one of their training sessions at Trinity High School and take a photograph with the team in their new football kits.

Peter, owner of four McDonald’s restaurants across Paisley and Renfrewshire, said:“I am thrilled to be part of the McDonald’s Kit Scheme and help support such an impressive number of junior grassroots clubs in my community.

“Grassroots clubs invest an incredible amount of time providing their local area with footballing opportunities.

“They provide young people with the chance to get involved and feel part of a team.”

Jim Muir from Renfrew Victoria said: “We’re hugely grateful to McDonald’s for donating a much-needed new away kit for our club.

“Our under-7 side have benefited from the kit this year and they were extremely proud to wear their kit this season.

“An average team strip costs around £500 per season, so this really is a huge saving for us and means we can spend the money on other areas of the club that need it.”
