-

A jobs boost could be on the way after a Paisley electrical engineering specialist reported a boost in sales.

Linwood Road- based Power One, provides mobile network infrastructure to some of the remotest parts of Scotland, won largest LED street lighting contract in the country last year.

And now it has record revenues of £7.8 million for 2016. That’s up from £4m in 2015, with operating profit rising by 60 per cent yearon-year.

And new investment in the company could see staff numbers rise from 65 to 85.

“We are confident of continuing our double-digit growth this year and street lighting in particular is a massive opportunity for the business because we have invested in our people and technology,” Chief executive and founder Mark Ward said.

“The current funding round will allow us to expand our operations so that we can deliver multiple contracts that will be coming on stream over the next few years.”

The firm is also planning to open an office in the southeast of England this year.

Privately- owned Power One Group specializes in electrical contracting, power to the mobile communications sector, and street lighting. It was set up in 2004. The company says it recently received major contract awards in its street lighting and communications sectors, totalling £13 million.

Power One has carried out various electrical works since it was founded.

These range from hospital electrical supplies and distribution, sub station installation, to re-wiring and LED retrofits in high street Stores such as Wilkinson and Asda.

It adds that a varied and wide scope of electrical contracting works have also been completed for the clients on various construction projects throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK.
