Brother shops drink rap sibling

-

There was no love lost between two brothers after one called the police to report the other for drink-driving.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard how it was a row between the pair that led Paul Darroch to get behind the wheel.

He had been ordered to leave his brother’s house in Dumbarton after they had been socialising together on November 21 last year.

Police were called and informed and officers lay in wait on the A737 after being told that Darroch, 38, was likely to be making for his parents’ home in Kilwinning.

When his vehicle was spotted on the Johnstone by- pass section of the dual carriageway, they immediately intercepted it and stopped him in his tracks.

When breath- tested, he was found to be almost three times over the legal limit with a reading of 59 micrograms of alcohol in his system. The legal limit is 22. Defence agent Amy Spencer confirmed that her client and his brother had fallen out and were not talking to each other as a result of what had happened.

Darroch, who was said to have family connections in the Paisley area, had now moved back with his parents in Kilwinning as he is studying painting and decorating at college there.

Ms Spencer said that he would now be forced to rely on public trasnport to visit family members in Paisley.

Sheriff David Pender disqualitifed him from driving for 15 months and imposed a £ 400 fine to be paid at £10 per week.
