Spring clear-out could help needy families

-

Charity bosses are appealing for people to spring clean their wardrobe and help them out.

Barnardo’s Scotland – which has charity shops in Linwood and Barrhead – is hoping the arrival of spring will encourage customers across Renfrewshire to donate items they no longer need.

A study by the charity found Scots could be hoarding more than 58 million pieces of clothing they no longer wear.

Nearly half of people surveyed feel guilty, embarrassed or wasteful about their unworn clothes.

Magdalene Davie, from Barnardo’s Scotland, said:“By donating your clothes, ornaments, kitchenware, photo frames and much more, you can give them a new lease of life, de-clutter your home and make a huge difference to the lives of others.

“Our stores are a crucial source of funding that is vital to the charity to support services for some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children, young people and families.”

Barnardo’s Scotland relies on the income generated from their shops to help support their work.

All money raised in their shops goes towards community-based services with children, young people and families in the local area.

Pop in to the Linwood shop at Unit 8, Bridge Street or Unit 2, Westbourne Street, Barrhead, to drop off your unwanted items.
