Exhibition puts Buddies in the frame

-

These are some of the talented artists whose work will be on display at a special exhibition that opens today.

The exhibition, by Renfrewshire Disability Arts Forum and Disability Resource Centre, is a popular event.

It is running at Tweedie Hall, Linwood, in partnership with Street Level Photoworks.

Funding has come from Renfrewshire Council’s culture, events and heritage fund, supporting Paisley’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2021.

The show, called Paisley People, will be on at the Bridge Street venue from today until Friday, June 9, and admission is free.

Work featured in the exhibition were shot during Paisley’s Doors Open Day last year.

A spokeswoman said:“The group set up a pop-up studio in Paisley Abbey and asked members of the public if they would like to be photographed for the exhibition.

“The uptake was amazing and the people of Paisley were fantastic.

“In one of the workshop sessions, members of the group brought items that are special to them to have their own portraits taken .”

Members of the forum and the centre have different health conditions but share the same passion for photography.

Reg Hannen said:“Photography improves my health as it makes me feel more positive, as well as mentally and physically uplifted.”

And Brenda Caldwell added:“Photography lifts my mood, and helps me to relax.”
