Mecca Bingo has donated a weighty cash amount to the Carers Trust.

The Paisley club helped raise £5,000 for their partner charity after walking 26 miles for the Kiltwalk Glasgow.

Eleven team members from Mecca clubs in Paisley and Glasgow took part, raising an impressive figure that trippled their original £1,500 goal.

Susan Forbes was there to don her kilt on behalf of the Paisley bingo club, putting her best foot forward for charity along with her team mates.

Kiltwalk is a unique event that enables thousands of walkers to fundraise for their choice of Scottish charity.

Starting at Bothwell Street, Glasgow, the walkers embarked on a jaunt in aid of a good cause.

Operations manager at Paisley Mecca, Carolanne Beattie said Susan – who was the club’s charity champion – did the Paisley team proud.

She explained: “It’s a fantastic achievement for the group who raised £5,000 for Carers Trust.

“It’s always an amazing turn out at the Kiltwalk and a fantastic day, the Mecca folks were well looked after by the charity walk organisers.”

Mecca Paisley nominates a charity to support each year and it has been the Carers Trust for the past two years.

Carers Trust aims to support families and carers of all ages.

Gail Scott-Spicer, CEO of Carers Trust, thanked the Paisley club and the rest of the team for their outstanding efforts.

She said: “We were delighted to hear about the fundraising success in the name of Carers Trust.

“The £5,000 raised combined with the amazing amounts money raised throughout the year will help Carers Trust to support thousands of unpaid carers through a grants fund.

“This will give carers the equipment and skills they need to carry out their caring roles, whilst also ensuring that their own health and wellbeing are looked after.”
