Kind pupils help Missio Scotland
Weekend of violence leaves four in hospital
Pupils at St Fergus Primary in Paisley helped raise a fantastic £966 for Missio Scotland.
They held a variety of fundraising events which collected a fantastic £916, then pupils doing their confirmation donated a further £50 to the charity.
Missio Scotland is the Scottish branch of the Pontifical Mission Societies and the money will go to rushed to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital after being knifed on a busy bus in Neilston Road in the town.
A 41-year-old man was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday in connection with the bus attack.
A 17-year-old boy has also been reported to the Procurator Fiscal following the incident in Hazel Avenue.
However, cops last night appealed for witnesses as they probe the attacks in Johnstone’s High Street and Glasgow Rome to then be spent in projects around the world.
Gerard Gough from Missio Scotland said: “We’re always amazed by how much fundraising schools do and it was great to collect the cheque from St Fergus Primary.
“They’ve done absolutely fantastic work in raising so much money.”

Commenting on the Renfrew slashing – which left the victim requiring 18 stitches – Detective Constable Laura Durnie, of Paisley CID, said:“We do not believe that this was a random attack and believe that the 29-year-old man was specifically targeted by the suspect.
“Nevertheless we cannot tolerate this kind of violence in our streets in Renfrewshire.
“The area of Glasgow Road which is near to the Braehead shopping centre would have been busy with people
coming to and from the centre at around 8.40pm on Friday.
“I appeal to anyone who either witnessed this incident, or has any other information that could help identify the suspect, to contact police.”
In relation to the serious assault in Johnstone, Detective Inspector Sandy Nelson said:“The attack took place in Johnstone High Street at around 10.15pm on Friday.
“We are following a positive line of enquiry but I would ask any witnesses to come forward and call police on 101.”
