Lilifest will be the best this year
A packed line-up of events for Kilbarchan’s celebrations
23.05.2017 A new and exciting festival of events and activities will be part of this year’s Lilias Day celebrations in Kilbarchan.
Dubbed “Lilifest”, organisers says it will feature a varied programme including live international music, comedy, a Lego animation workshop and a family ceilidh.
“An Evening with Rev Ian Miller” will feature one of Kilbarchan’s best loved residents.
Mr Miller is described as a master raconteur whose stories and jokes are well worth hearing.
His set at Kilbarchan Performing Arts Centre will take place on Thursday, June 1, with proceeds going to the Kilbarchan Smile community group for reinvestment in the village.
This year’s festival is brought right up to date with an interactive Lego animation workshop by Morgan Spence whose creations have been viewed more than 10 million times worldwide.
He has also appeared on the BBC and ABC television in the US, discussing work that includes videos for DJ Paul Oakenfold and Paisley’s City of Culture bid.
On Monday, May 29, Morgan will present a 90-minute workshop.
He will share his experiences and knowledge of the craft before assisting participants in creating their own animated clips using Lego.
Lilifest will also feature the Kilbarchan Smile Gateway Garden Party.
It will be held on Sunday, May 28, and will feature music, a performance by Loud ‘n’ Proud, LEAP, RSPB and other stalls.
The Big Bike Revival, in partnership with LEAP, features free bike maintenance, a bike swap and guided cycle at 1pm.
Young Habbies will also be entertained as Anne Pitcher will host interactive storytelling fun with puppets, props, sound makers and songs.
A series of events including live music and quizzes will take place at the village’s two pubs – Habbies and The Trust – whilst Village Voices and The Junior Choir will perform a summer concert at Kilbarchan Parish Church on Sunday, June 11.
“Habbies Hoolie” family ceilidh is to make a welcome return to the Kilbarchan Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, June 17, with the area’s leading ceilidh band Clamjamfrie.
Lilias Day , on Saturday, June 3, will again offer a day packed with activities and entertainment.
